Australia's top wheelies to compete in GAR - 4/11/09
Australia’s fastest athletes on three wheels will be racing around Albert Park’s Formula one track in Melbourne on Saturday, 28 November.
Part of the Great Australian Run’s massive weekend festival of fun and fitness, Beijing medallists Christie Dawes, Richard Colman, Angie Ballard and Jemima Moore headline the talented national squad, who will converge for the 10km event.
“Australia’s best wheelchair athletes will be in action at Albert Park, and we encourage everyone to come down and cheer on our current and future Paralympians,” said Australian head coach Andrew Dawes.
Starting at 9am, Olympic 400m champion and Australian sporting great Cathy Freeman will set the field off on their two laps around the slick Albert Park course.
Non elite wheelchair entrants are encouraged to enter the Great Australian Family Run which will be held around the 2km course. Enter online now at www.greataustralianrun.com.au.
In its second year, the Great Australian Run returns bigger and better in 2009 with thousands participating in the name of fun, fitness and fundraising.
Held across two days, there are events catering for runners, joggers, walkers and wheelies of all ages, levels and abilities.
