It’s a rare occurrence in Australia for local sports fans to have the opportunity to witness and participate alongside the past two Olympic gold medallists, of any sport – especially on our own turf.

This year you are in for a special treat when the most recent Olympic marathon champions – Kenyan Samuel Wanjiru and Italian Stefano Baldini - take to the streets of Melbourne for the 2009 Great Australian Run.

Wanjiru, who won in Beijing, and Baldini who won in Athens, will lead thousands of runners, joggers and walkers all participating for fun, fitness and fundraising over the 15km course.

IGA joins in the fun and fitness on family day

We are delighted to announce that IGA supermarkets have jumped on board as the naming-rights sponsor of the family and junior events.

Both races will be staged on self-contained courses within Albert Park providing a fun opportunity for youngsters to burn around the Formula 1 Grand Prix Track!

Entry costs just $25 and all entrants receive a free t-shirt as well as a finisher's pack which includes a medal, sponsor giveaways and more.
